  • Multiskills Festival

multi_skills_060411_001On Wednesday 6th April, from 11.00am to 12.30pm, the Sturminster Newton Leisure Centre played host to a Multiskills Festival.

It was organised by Mr Karl Whittick, P E Co-ordinator here at Yewstock, who was ably assisted in the setting up and running the event by Sports Leaders from Yewstock and Blandford Schools.

multi_skills_060411_002About 50 students from 4 schools - Beaucroft, Linwood, Westfield and Yewstock participated in skills aimed to provide Agility, Balance and Co-ordination (A,B,C), whilst having fun.  There were 12 stations set up around the sports hall including ball skills, throwing beanbags, balancing on a beam catching a basketball, jumping, hopping, speed stacking cups and many others.

This was the first Multiskills Festival to be held and proved to be a great success and all the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hopefully it will be an annual event.

Thanks go to Mr Whittick, the Sports Leaders and of course the Sturminster Newton Leisure Centre for the use of their sports hall.
