This project is about the development of a Short Breaks home in the East of Dorset called Hayeswood for autistic children or children who have a learning disability aged 8-17 years old.
It is in response to parents and carers sharing with Dorset Council that this is an area of need, it is part of a wider plan to improve access to Short Breaks for families of children who are disabled living in Dorset. The home will provide outreach support to children and young people in their own homes and communities, as well as overnight short breaks. The project is underway and Hayeswood is due to open in Spring 2023.
How to get involved
Please contact DPCC for more information about being part of the design group for the project which will ensure parents and carers are involved in making decisions and jointly agreeing actions.
