Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this finds you all well
Speech and Language – Many thanks for your feedback and thoughts this week on how we can improve our Speech and Language Therapy here at Yewstock, this is very helpful and will form part of the report I make to Dorset Council each year to support funding for this vital service.
Flu Vaccine – I feel it is vitally important this year to protect children and families by having a flu vaccine. We have made arrangements for all pupils to have a flu vaccine at Yewstock. Three members of staff from the NHS Immunisation Service will be onsite on Weds 21st October for the nasal flu vaccine for pupils (only for those with parental consent).
We will email all teachers a week before the 21st October with a Social Story so they can use it with pupils and share it with families to use at home.
During the day the three nurses will use disinfectant spray and towels to wipe down chairs between bubbles to ensure safety.
All parents will need to submit your consent direct to the NHS Immunisation Team. Our school office will send out a reminder to you all with the link or letter.
Public Health England – have asked us to share a letter with you all to help you identify symptoms of Covid-19 – please follow the link:
NHS Test and Trace App – The new NHS Test and Trace App has now been launched. We would encourage all parents to download the App. However, we would like to stress that this is only appropriate for people aged 16 and above. If you choose to download the App against the recommended age, and your child does have their mobile in school, we would advise they use the Pause feature in the app at all times on the school premises. As phones are always kept locked away, the app may end up recording false information regarding who your child has been in contact with.
Waitrose – Some good news! Friends of Yewstock have been contacted by Waitrose who have made us one of the recipients of their monthly charity donation, and we are due to receive a share of the thousand pounds monthly award. We will be able to put this money to really good use to support children – many thanks Friends, and to Waitrose!
Hall and Woodhouse – I am very pleased to say that at an awards last night, Hall and Woodhouse brewery have given us £1500 towards our college sensory room project. This is another very generous donation and will enable us to install a sensory room at college site alongside refurbishing our existing school site sensory room. We will then have resources to support learners with very complex needs right across the school sites and will be very beneficial.
Many thanks as ever for your support
Clive Padgett
